WELCOME TO MINDFUL AND MOVING
I’ve been practicing various mindfulness methods since Iraq.
I’ve been training people in various human movement methodologies for 10+ years.
With time, my mindfulness practice has begun to naturally flow into the movement methods.
“Mission Realization,” which is still the process I use to help students reach their desired fitness outcomes, was designed around the idea that mind and body are inextricably linked.
I’ve been cooking up good things while away from this website.
Some new traveling. Some new training. Re-learned some timeless lessons.
I’m excited to share more with you in time.
MINDFUL IN MODERNITY
Christians and Muslims call it “praying.”
Yogis and Zen Buddhists call it “practicing.”
American soldiers and athletes call it “performing.”
Psychologists call it many things. We can call it mindfulness. Sapiens need more of it.
WHY MODERN MEN NEED MINDFULNESS
Men are becoming cyborgs.
They’re interfacing evermore with an artificially intelligent chattering hivemind of increasing billions.
This hivemind, by function, devises more and more ways to extract people’s love, money, and attention.
If mindfulness is to be measured at all, we could measure it as one’s capacity to focus on tasks and relationships while living with gratitude.
If the above is the measurement, then most lifeways of 100 years ago were incredibly “mindful” by comparison. That’s why modern men need it more than ever.
No magic. No voodoo. No superstition.
Just disconnecting from the wrong things.
Just connecting to the right things.
Just existing in this moment.
9 WAYS TO BE MORE MINDFUL NOW
1. Sit quietly.
2. Eat with gratitude.
3. Notice your breath.
4. Put away your phone.
5. Observe your thoughts.
6. Move your body with purpose.
7. Immerse yourself in the moment.
8. Realize that existence is temporary.
9. Just do it!
